Become a Young Reporter for the Environment and Join the 2024 Competition!

We’re inviting all students between the ages of 11 and 25 to participate in the 2024 Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) Competition. Students interested in environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity, and pollution are invited to share their perspectives through an article, photograph, or video.

With nearly one-third of our population being youth, we’re on the cusp of a unique demographic dividend. Yet, Bangladesh’s rank at 126th out of 130 on the global youth development index underscores our untapped potential.

YRE Bangladesh, driven by Probha Aurora, provides the platform for youth to unleash their power. Through investigative journalism and multimedia storytelling – articles, photography, videography – we empower you to advocate, research, and craft solutions.

Climate change is an intergenerational challenge, and its adverse effects will be disproportionately shouldered by today’s youth in the near future. YRE Bangladesh is committed to nurturing the next generation of environmental leaders who are equipped to tackle climate change head-on. Our mission is to give our environment a powerful and resonant voice through the passionate commitment of the youth. Together, let’s amplify our environment’s voice and make a resounding difference.

Eligibility criteria:

• Age categories must be within 11-25 years in 3 groups: 11-14, 15-18, and 19-25 years.
• Cover the basic journalism questions of who, what, where, why, when, and how.
• Preferred Language: English and Bangla. (Subtitles must be added in both cases).
• Can participate individually or through their institution in groups.
• The presented solutions must be realistic and local, having a global impact.
• Submission must also meet the international requirements of YRE.

Requirements:

• Complete the application form with accurate information.
• Craft your report with dedication, creativity, and a strong environmental message.
• Comply with YRE program rules and guidelines, ensuring original and ethical work.
